Where have all the robins gone?

In the early morning of the day Winnie's brother Frank was freed of suffering on Earth (December 4, 2011), I had a dream in which Frank and I were sitting quietly on an outdoor bench. In the dream, I glanced up and saw a twitchy, feather-fluttering robin perched on a leafless twig, chirping his upbeat chirps. I pointed to the robin and said to Frank, "Look at the robin, singing away." Frank looked up and smiled. I woke up from the dream, wondering "Where did that come from?". I wrote to Winnie about the dream and included printed Internet information about robin symbolism, which accurately described Frank. From that time on I included robins in greeting cards I created for Winnie and continued to be aware of their presence. She watched for Baldwin robins as well. When I moved to my current apartment in May 2012, I was in awe of all the robins in this Saint Paul neighborhood. Any time I looked out the window, I saw at least one robin in the back yard. I decided to call my neighborhood "Robin 'Hood." Robin 'Hood changed dramatically on August 1, 2012. En route to helping an attorney in downtown Saint Paul that morning, I saw two grackles in a city park and thought, "Geez, why can't they be robins?!" Upon arriving home that afternoon, I listened sorrowfully to my sister Sylvia's message that Winnie passed to eternal peace shortly after a telephone conference with her precious sisters, Nan and Ellen, that morning. Since August 1, no robins have been hopping and chirping in Robin 'Hood. No robins have warbled to announce each new day. I missed them and felt genuinely sad because of the absence of these beloved, beautiful birds. Until late yesterday afternoon, that is, September 9, 2012. One. Two. Two robins. I named them Frankie and Winnie. I am still wondering why robins returned September 9. What is the significance of September 9? 9/9 I loved my spunky, effervescent, fun-loving, bright cousin Winnie. I miss making cards for her and writing to her. I feel profoundly grateful to her friend Marion and hope Marion writes something for this love-fest website and sends a picture or two. Leslie, too. My lipstick is an Avon product; the color's name is WINK, a very pretty pink. I wear it and think of Wink. Winnie Strunk. My cousin Winnie. With Love, Jane Lang (second daughter of John and Bertha Stephens Lang, born August 4, 1943, one year before Winnie)
